About Esteban
Growing up in a family of musicians, Esteban learned to treat music as one of his native languages. He began with singing and later took up the bassoon, an instrument he continues to study today. Over the years, he has won several prizes as both a soloist and chamber musician, and has performed with numerous ensembles, including the Tonhalle Orchester Zürich and the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra.
His passion for composition emerged around the age of sixteen, when he began writing and arranging short pieces in a wide range of styles. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in composition for Film, Theatre and Media at the Zurich University of the Arts, studying with Olav Lervik, Kaspar Ewald and Markus Schönholzer, while continuing his bassoon studies with Michael von Schönermark.
Today, Esteban is expanding his musical universe at the Haute École de Musique de Genève, where he studies electroacoustic music with Gilbert Nouno and Luis Naón, while continuing his journey on the bassoon with Afonso Venturieri.
What defines Esteban’s artistic voice is the openness of his stylistic palette. Rooted in classical and Romantic traditions yet drawn toward the colors of jazz and the possibilities of electronic sound, he weaves these influences into a vivid, contemporary language that is distinctly his own.
